Warszawianka

The Folk Song and Dance Ensemble WARSZAWIANKA is a representative group of the biggest Polish universities –THE WARSAW UNIVERSITY.

There are nearly 100 students and graduates of all faculties of dance, vocal and instrument. Polish regional dances presented by the artists are: polkas, mazurkas and obereks .

The group is a member of the Polish Section of the International Folk Festivals and Art Association of the International Folk Festivals and Art Associations (PS CIOFF.

WARSZAWIANKA has performed extensively on all prestigeous venues of the world presenting its gamut of repertoire comprising  all Polish national dances and regional suites of Rzeszów, Podlasie, Kaszuby, Opoczno, Powiśle Lubelskie, Silesian Beskid, a scenic picture of mid-war period Warsaw and theatrical shows thematically connected with Christmas and Easter.

The group has also prepared many occasional and educational programs for students.

As the only representative of the country it performed during 98′ Kyongju World Culture Expo in Korea.

The group has performed to critical acclaim at international folk festivals in France, Spain, Greece, Holland, Canada, Germany, the USA, Turkey, Hungary, Great Britain, Italy and Israel to name a few.

 WARSZAWIANKA proves that folklore can be an uncommon history lesson as well as fun and entertainment.
